Default Reporting someone really worth it ?

Today in a run, we got a scammer ... he decided to bug a whole run just for his own fun.

His name was Do not post names.

We all reported him.

Sadly, we will never know what will happen ... does reporting him will do something or it's just a lost of time ...

Someone can answer me on this ?

I know the management here frowns upon using other people's in-game names and they will edit your post. As for the report system - I have not seen or heared of anyone getting info about actions that were or were not taken.

Saw a guy with [ACAB] tab not 10 minutes ago. Thought of reporting it but I shrugged it off and kept spamming Trade channel.

I got a reply to a report i sent to support. they informed me the account was banned. So yeah, for a scam you might not get your stuff back, but at least the other player can't play for a while on that account.

Because of the report feature they probably get hundreds if not thousands of reports per day. Yours is just one, they will get to it as soon as they approach it in the queue. If it's worth it to report to you then do it.

Edit: what's an ACAB tab and why would I report it?

I have reported FA kurzick leecher LDS (first letters from each word) like one year and so many other people have reported that player, but it is still there leeching time to time with his rank 12 kurzick title.

Good job, Anet.

Well, it's not worth it for YOU. Anet doesn't act to restore your losses, only to punish abuse. So, if you want the man to stop, IF Anet has enough of a case, then yet. If you personally want what you lost back, then no. If you want to see the perpetrator punished, again, no. Anet rarely informs the plaintiff of the eventual punishment of the perpetrator, if any at all.

No it isn't worth it

Anet doesn't want people to run areas they want us all to work for our rewards so they are unlikely to be sympathetic to you and return anything.

As to whether they punish the scammer I am undecided, from their point of view by scamming he is deterring some people from hiring runners which is good, even though they do not approve of scamming in general.

Also possible that said scammer will now take a personal interest in you and report you for something just to cloud the issue.

Anet are less likely to single him out if the issue is in doubt.

Yes, A-Net does suspend people for breaking the rules, including griefing. But, in order for them to initiate a suspension, they need to know about it. So you've got 2 choices: Report the jerk and let A-Net take appropriate (in their judgement) action, OR not say a thing and let the jerk off scot-free. I, for one, will take my chances with A-Net, because at least I know that I did the right thing.

lol babies... the internet is the internet, if you don't like pub chat turn it off, simple. do you keep the trade tab open at all times then report cuz you don't like the spam?

the reason botters and what not aren't getting banned is because people make dumb reports like this no offense.

If a violation is confirmed, then at the least, the violator will receive a mark on his account. Enough bad reports within a certain time frame (I don't remember how long or short) and the temp bans begin. If additional violations occur before the points have worn off, then the bans get longer.

I don't report people except for the racists guys, that just plain wrong imo.

If I would seriously report every trash talk, scammer or gold selling spammer I would see it would cost me a lot of time. Besides, I don't want to risk being banned myself for abusing the /report function if other people don't report the same guy, I know kinda hypocrite but still.. you could make a day's work out of reporting people in SJM ae1

ACAB = All Cops Are Bastards.

Originated way before the punk & Oi appropriation of the abbreviation. References to it go back to the 1940s in the UK. Often as a tattoo on those who've had unpleasant dealings with the British police.

Urban Dictionary ftw.

Personally I think that there should be no report system, just a huge ignore list...why can't there be a "Online Interactions Not Rated" sign on the game box? This game is full of annoying little kids, that flame and troll and cry and spam and whatnot. So while they can do this, and not get in trouble, we can say the word (F--K) because it's "Use of inappropriate language". Why does ANET control what we say, since we have the freedom of speech and if someone does like it../ignore. Like I said before, you never know what you're going to get online, so why bother making the age limit 12 and putting a chat filter on, if the stupid kids don't even use the chat filter and you can still get suspended for saying these words that the mother bleeping filter blocks?!!?!?

Its a common misinterpretation that we have freedom of speech in Guildwars. Guildwars is on a private server, it is not a public place. If you invite guests to your home and they start being unpleasant or rude you are free to show them the door any time you like.
So are Anet, they can show players the door anytime they like for saying anything anet determines inappropriate.

Yes to a bigger Ignore list
Yes to the game being full of annoying little kids and annoying big kids and adults too since being annoying isn't an age thing.

No to removing the chat filter I'm 60 and don't especially want to see F...k this and F..k that all day.
Not averse to the word or saying it myself its just the context.
In real life we swear at times and in certain company but never to hundreds of complete strangers.
So please keep verbal pollution out of general chat.

Love it when some people cry "But we have freedom of Speech" they should concentrate on that word "Freedom" it shouldn't mean freedom to force others to do or experience something they should be free not to.

I like all-chat. I use all-chat all the time. I also use team chat when I'm in a PUG. I'm not going to turn them off because some little d-bag(s) are violating the EULA. I'll stick to my /report + ignore, TYVM

This. QFT.

Freedom without basic rules leads to anarchy.

People are indeed free to say whatever they please in a chat. Then tough they have to face the consequences of their acts when they break rules they explicitly chose to abide by.

Simple as that.
